Is someone being Funny here
What I meant was that the OBC has been tuned down to only give you your
Kms that you can drive with the fuel thats left in your tank, and Ltrs Used since last reset ,also your avarage fuel consumption !!!!!! BUT no immediate fuel consumption .That is the bit that was removed

That was not meant to be funny Stu..

Thats how it works these days..couple of decades before if we wanted to buy any costly product, we used to ask opinion from friends and relatives as which product will be good...

Now internet has replaced that..Forums are the place to discuss pros and cons of a product and also issues that we are facing with a product..

So what I meant was forums has become the best place to find answers to our queries...

Buddies,
I had bought a new Logan DLX on 16Feb11. i have check millage. Here the readings

541 - 35Ltrs Diesel So i got 15.46KM/Ltr. May i expect in further? I mean may i get more millage after some kms like 2000 which is recommended for first free service.

Or may i need to follow any driving instruction to get more fuel economy. Accept your all guideline to make a pleasant journey with Logan.

I expect much more from Logan. So please help me to get a nominal good things from Logan.

Appreciate your all guideline.

you will use about 2 ltrs less after about 10000 km always change gear early but dont labour the motor!!!!! So as fast as possible change up into the next gear

I get mileage of 19.5 average in Chennai city. This is with 70% AC. This was from DIS reading.

But when I went for long drive with 80% AC and calculated the fuel efficiency manually I arrived at the calculation of 22.1 and DIS showed 22.2

So I guess DIS is fairly accurate may be with an error margin of + or - .5 km per litre of Diesel

I feel DIS averages out the fuel consumption.
But trust DIS fuel consumption after driving for 500 Kms or so without any reset.

I may be late in writing my comments but I could not help it. In 2011, the prices of fuel are sky rocketing and every ml of fuel counts. On the basis of my long driving experience on all types of roads and weather, especially in Himachal Pradesh, and other Northern cities where roads are still a bit under developed, one can squeeze mileage from a car if one drives sanely. Years ago, on a drive from Shimla to Paonta Sahib (hill track 175 Kilometers) in my Alto, I could get 32 Kms/ltr (Petrol). I have a New Verito. Kindly read my first review in a forum in ClubLogan. I do not use brakes at curves. I slow down as soon as I see a curve and negotiate it easily. Even otherwise I use brakes only when I can not avoid using them. Secondly, I drive at a moderate speed, between 60 Kms/hr to 80 Kms/hr. Let me inform the members, from Shimla to Delhi, a distance of 375 Kilometers, whether you drive like a mad person with police on your tail or like a sane person on moderate speed, the saving in time is statistically not significant. Even on a four lane National Highway, one does not find 20 Kilometers of clear road. Some idiot will be there to put you in trouble.
So my advice is to drive on a moderate speed even on six lane National Highway. You will not lose time rather your gain will be less stress, more fuel efficiency and a grateful car. Incidently, being a University Professor and a researcher, I may also add that our driving behaviour clearly demonstrates our personality and value-system. Any takers. Thanks a lot.

Hope you like it.

I enjoyed that ! Very well written and sensible he is right in all instances especially the not rushing around on the motorway .It is MITH and not MPH that counts (Miles in the Hour ) not Miles per Hour
once again well written and I hope your guys read and digest it

drkeshav,

I cannot but agree with you one hundred percent; it is all about safe driving and sensible driving....

For all those budding Mike Schumakers, there is a racing track being prepared at Greater Noida by the JP Group...

On a more serious note, we need to have discipline in our driving ettiquettes, it will be a blessing for everyone all around (including the vehicle). I also agree that a speed of 80 kmph or 100 kmph does not materially impact on the time taken; besides, if reaching the destination early is the main criterion, no harm in starting half an hour early...!

And must compliment you, a well written piece.

Calculated form tank full method I got efficiency of 18 Kmpl with 30 % city and 70% highway. This is after reducing 10% error on odo reading.

My New look Verito D6 is 2 months old (or young) and have driven 5200 km so far. I have done 4 tank fulls so far and I reset the meters everytime I fillup the tank.

I have been getting a mileage of 24 kmpl so far. This is the tankfull to tankfull measurement The mileage meter shows 27kmpl - not accurate but close. Amazing ! I just got the first servicing done. But I learnt that the first service is just an inspection and no changes are done. Am waiting for the 10K servicing to happen. Will know the real mileage figure then. I hope it only improves.

Here is the context in which I get this mileage :-

70% highway and 30% city, AC is used only 10% of the time - on weekends when I am travelling in afternoons.

90% of the time i am the only person in the car with no other load - except my laptop

I try to keep the rpm between 1500 and 2000 most of the times. I like to cruise along at a constant speed and most often i am not interested in overtaking vehicles in front of me. I may overtake only if the vehicle in front is too slow and requires me to downshift my gears too much.

I have reviewed all fuel pumps in my vincity and found one who does not have any adulteration (by public opinion). I always fill at that same pump. I go only when tank is empty and always do a tank full.

Thats a Lot 10ltrs per 100 KM .I take it there is lots of stop and starts If you live near where you drive round take ou the spare wheel ! its a lot of unneeded weight which can be called for if needed (how often have you had a puncture) ? I recone the wheel will get you down to 9

Deduct 10% from the distance traveled due to the ODO error and then recalculate your fuel efficiency.

@MyCoolLogan. There is no reason to believe that there will be so much of error due to the odometer. I have been travelling this same distance "office to home" for last 10 years and have done it on 2 different cars and also a bike. They all show exactly the same distance of 43 kms. This means that when the odo shows 43 kms I know that it is 43 indeed.

Hi Loganers,
Am a late joiner to this club. God I should have found out about forum a lot longer. Most of my problems are discussed here in all the possible depths and angle one can imagine. Like changing batteries, engine oil, fuel to use etc.

I stumbled here searching for what new soles option I can have for my ride LOGAAAN 1.5DLX. To get to the point i.e calculating mileage, i always do it like this and is this right??

1. Wait for low fuel indicator to come ON and reset my trip meter to ZERO.
2. Fill diesel as required. I fill in so that it lasts me for about a week.
3. Check the reading on trip meter and divide it by the liters filled on next low fuel signal.
4. Normal diesel is filled from the same IOC pump station always.

I use A/C about 50% of the time. i.e mornings when i go for work it will be on. But when returning from work don't switch it on as it will be about around 8:00pm. But always have the windows up and ventilation open. A/C will be always ON when travelling with my family. My 6yr kid is very particular that he can always see A/C indicator glowing be it day/night and summer/winter/raining.

I get above 19km/ltr and sometimes 20km/ltr while driving in city. I keep rpm less than 2000 and never go above 80km/hr. My ride is about 4yrs old and has done 62,000kms.

On highways cannot say must be about 22km/ltr. Because the city where i live Cochin is were you get diesel cheapest so i do a full tank and go. When i return there will be always about 2-3 digital bars left on the fuel indicator.

Do let me know about the above method of mileage calculation or should i be trying out the full tank to full tank one.

cheers,
Zaps.

I just had back from the trip from Konkan region,

Overall 1164 kms i travelled in last 4 days. & i didn't nedel to fill diesel anywhere in journey. I refuelled car before leaving from my hometown with 49.4 ltrs of diesel with 4 ltr already in tank & after coming home i found 4 ltrs balance as per our digital panel.

So approx i must have got an avg of 23.5 KMPL with 100 % ac on with roads full of ghatsections.........!

It is a good value.. I need to change the air & fuel filter, after which it will be more economical to drive this beauty.

Regards,

Vaibhav
