They use magnets around the Fuel pipe or Elec cables and then tell you it works
50 % what a bloody joke Keep your money in your pockets guys cos if this thing really worked the car industry would have fitted it as a normal spec
50% more mileage hahahaha that is ridiculous it shows us the firm is not really to be believed and also they dont have any other stuff to sell cos they bought this crap from Europe while we didnt want it

i took part in logan mileage rally organised by mahindra people held on 12 at
hyderabad. my 1.5 dls has done 51235kms and is due for service and still
it has given an amazing 36.02kmpl, coming 4th, 1st,2nd and 3rd are 41.06,
39,and 37kmpls. had it been serviced probably i would have
got a better figure. it was a mix of city and highway route of 75.3kms.
mahindra guys sealed the tank after filling and opened it for refilling
in the presence of each participant. i drove at 55-65km/h in overdrive and
used mn braking,switched off the engine at traffic signals, i never crossed
beyond 2000rpm. also the 1.4 petrol variant stood 1st with 23kmpl. totally

40 cars took part in the rally.

BTW, i drove from Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai for a wedding. Didnt drive for a good mileage , was on an average speed of about 100-120 on the express highway with 150Kmph being the fastest..
Still, i managed to get a mileage of 25 KMPL which i think is brilliant..

I am regularly checking the mileage for the last 3 years (LOGAN DIESEL). Most probably in every week. I have seen a lot logan owners who claims mileage more than 21-30 kms/litre. Some of them are making arguements with their mileage. But their calculation is absolutely wrong.

I am getting 12-14 kms/litre in heavy city traffic driving and 16-18 kms/litre in less traffic roads or highways. This is the actual mileage of the car. What I understood from the high mileager's arguements is that they are not filling the tank in full capacity. As per the vehicle manual the fuel tank capacity is 50 litres. But the actual capacity is more than 60 litres and requires more than 10 minutes to fill the tank in full.

I have learned from my experience, the actual milage of any car will be 20 percent less than what certified by the Automotive Reasearch Association of India. The ARAI certified mileage for logan is 21 kms/litre. Hence I think that my calculation is right and it is the real mileage of the logan.

Yes you are right. The actual tank capacity is 50 lts but the pipes and places the diesel travels to reach the engine account for the additional 10 lts. I have been Filling over about 56lts to full and then fill till it falls . Still i get about 25 + on highways. In city, yes it is about 13-15kmpl.
On the ARAI, no i dont agree with you. You may get more than what they state cause they get this mileage Under NORMAL driving conditions which is with both good, bad roads and traffic as well. Also they calculate both highway and city and average it.. So its not necessary that you get the ARAI mileage or less than it.. You will get more if you drive well and take care of your car!!

Mine is a new car and first service not yet done..
On the basis of Computer calculation on the car, the fuel efficiency is 13 kmpl max..
13 Kmpl is from 50% city and 50% highways
During core city driving it drops till 9.5

Idling is the killer..if we keep the car in idling for some amount of time, it drops to 2.5 kmpl !!!!!

I have read and know that I should calculate by fuel tank method and after first service it will improve considerably as new engine will settle down..

Iam a new driver in India..and most of the time I engage only 2 and 3 rd gear because of the traffic..but once I am comfortable with driving mileage may improve...

I shift at around 1500 to 2500 RPM(Mostly at 1500 RPM..very rarely at 2500 RPM)

Any of you guys see anything wrong with my Fuel Economy?

We Measure it different to you I get 7,3 ltrs to 100 KM in my 1400 Petrol which is good
and a Logan Diesel uses about 4 to 100 which is normal when like Saumil says driven corectly

hey prasad no offense buddy but these figures are completely wrong its impossible to get such mileage in any test condition even and as u said u drove in between 55 to 65 km/ h on which gear u was driving the car i mean on this speed u cant even shift to 5ht gear and by driving constantly on 4th gear your maximum mileage will b about 17 to 18 km/ltr in any conditions.. and u still say what u said before then i dont know what diesel u people fill man or sumthing else drives your car...)

I can use 5th at 60 !!!! But it has to be constant on a longish road

After about 6 months of traffic-laden route I am back to my regular route (mix of traffic & long stretches.) My Avergae has come back to 18.5 in city with AC.

well martin in petrol car 5ht gear can be used after 50 but here prasad has told us about his diesel car so i was saying it about diesel car and i know even in diesel logan you can shift into 5ht gear on 60 but the engine takes load n vibrates means its not smooth and also labouring the engine like this effects over all performance..

I)f you just get into 5th and "Feather" the throttle on long roads you can putter around at about 60 no problem especially in a diesel This is why diesel is favored by Taxi firms

ya i know that but i think or should i say i felt it that when i did so car was labouring a little not that smooth and i read in the manaul with the car the it should never be laboured it will effect engine n mileage also... also this was conformed by some other diesel car users that a diesel engine should never be pulled on a higher gear in lower speed

NO car should be PULLED in a high gear ! we are talking about letting the car role by just using it weight and momentum Ok if you need to go up a little hill then you do a Block change from 5th to 3rd if needed .But that is true you should never labour the engine its not just the engine that doesn't like it its also the Clutch .I suppose your traffic is not as free flowing as here in Europe where we even have sets of lights called the Green Wave and if you hit the first traffic light at 50kmh you will get through the rest of the traffic lights up front just drive at 50 kmh no more and no less its a good idea and you know you will not be changing up and down all the time

I have read about the logan mileage rally conducted in two diffrent places. Some logan has achieved 43 , 42, 34 kmpl in the rally. Is it right milage?Is it raight calculation?. I am very doubtful how they calculted the mileage.

They are silly readings I get about 14 kmpl on the motorway and 13 on the open roads and Its good for this type of car .I cannot see the reason to try and save a few drops of fuel and make other motorists angry by crawling along down the road .If I wanted to save fuel I would have bought a Bicycle
A lot of guys on here give the readings from the Bord computer and this is wrong .In fact Dacia removed the Computer in Europe because of owners not being able to understand it and bombarding them with Questions

Tested this Sundy...Diesel pulls easily with 2 people on board(no other luggage in boot but with full fuel tank) at 60 Kmph..The minimum it can do safe at 5th gear is 58 kmph below which engine is not comfortable..

This was on a plain road(no inclination) and car just rolls smoothly.
Car is comfortable at 40 Kmph on 4th gear.

Martin, do you mean DIS is removed?..

Not sure in India if it is removed, Because I see conflict in the loganlovesindia.com while doing comparison between DLE, DLX and DLSX. Comparison indicated that DIS is removed. But customer care claims it is not removed. Recent owners(Those cars manufactured from Nov 2010) please confirm.

But Iam sure cars manufactured till Sep have this feature.

I do not mean the "WHOLE" computer is removed just the fuel consumption part is turned off while people see that at 50kmh they are using lets say 30 kpl they are reading the actual consumption and then seeing the average is higher and then they get puzzled

So you mean just that the, "Instantaneous fuel consumption indicator" alone is removed right?

Or

Average fuel consumption is removed?

NO !! The whole thing excepting the amount of Km you can drive on what you have in the tank !
