A/C Problem

Hi All,

from last 2 weeks my AC is not functioning properly, it is working Normally but the cooling Effect is very less, i am feeling very hot in sunny days even my AC is running on full speed, my Alto chills very quickly when compared to Logan Now, does any one had such problem previously, if so plz advise me to rectify this.

How old is your car? If you are using your car AC pretty regularly, u may need a gas refill, if not, there are chances of a leakage. Go to the service center and get it checked..

My Car is 20 Months Old, it has run 35000 KM till now, i run my car completely on AC even in Cold conditions Also, it is giving pretty good mileage between 16 & 18 KM in city driving.

Saumil is it better to get it checked in Mahindra workshop or out side AC Mechanics, coz last week i went to Mahindra workshop but there is no one to check the AC Problem.

always get things checked with mahindra authorized service center.
before visiting you can take a phone appointment, which is a very easy task.

possibilities could be from below.
1. though A.C. starts, it does not throw cold air at all and works as if it is in fan mode.
GAS problem, Condensor Oil problem may exist.

2. A.C. itself does not start.
Can be from Electrical problem, Condensor problem, Compressor problem.

3. A.C. starts, throws cold air, but the cool feeling comes only after some 10 minutes. Initially it feels as if in fan mode.
In temperatures generally >38 centigrades, one must start the car, open the windows, start A.C. in outside air intake mode for at least 5 mins before closing the windows and switching to cabin air intake mode. This drastically changes the cooling effects.

@Dharma, please go only to an authorised service center, as Mir said, take a prior appointment to avoid any issues.

Ok I have dicided to go to Mahindra Service this Saturday, i Called them today and they said they will call the AC Mechanic from another Mahindra Service Station for me.

AC is working fine however there is a noise whenever I turn on the AC (this noise is similar to one; we get during the rainy season whenever we apply breaks). I checked with Mahindra service, they are saying the AC expansion valve has to be replaced. since they dont have stock, the will inform me once it;s available.

hi all people, help me regarding this problem.
The issue is regarding air condition system which has some cooling coil which is leaking all the gas away.
my car is not under warranty from past 20 days(expired on 10 aug,2009) and when i contacted my dealers workshop for the remedy, they told me to pay rs.5800 for the same.
now the thing which is bothering me is that the car A/C system has underwent only one summer season that is during the year 2008.In 2009, on 23rd march, i got the A/C system fully serviced as all its vents and cooling coil was choked up.Then why all of a sudden this coil has started leaking as it wasnt driven under harsh conditions neither it has been used extensively . only 2 seasons of summer and A/C system needs such a huge repair.



now what to do......paying 7000 is troubling me...but driving car without ac is troubling more..

has contacted mahindra regarding this but still wanted to share it..



now i am desperetely feeling that i should have opted for extended warranty

Hey Hitesh the thing is that its very difficult to trust the service center. It might be that only a minor fix will solve ur problem. But they will deliberately try to do more than required jobs and charge extra. Try to visit some other Mahindra service center and bargain. Also u should always ask for warranty period of any work done in service center. You can call up Mahindra call center and inform them if u think its wrong on the part of service center.

As an example, I was told to pay 18000 bucks for the pre heating light indicator problem which was later repaired for Rs 150 after my constant follow up with Mahindra customer care.

actually i am asking them to fix this problem under warranty although warranty is over

i think it will be done but till then my car is like a big no no.

i have started commuting on my bike which was neglected since i was given logan.

so atlast i have opted for extended warranty which was given to me as goodwill by renault ppl.

now the cooling coil will be replaced under warranty...

how much did the extended warranty cost you?

i believe it will cost Rs 14600 if opted before the original 2 years warranty expires. Spending Rs 14600 gives you additional 2 years of peace.

I doubt how much genuinely the service center will change the faulty parts within the warranty period. They will try to avoid major changes and just put putty around faults.

This happened with my M800.. had to threaten consumer court action..

i got the part changed under ext warranty and paid rs 7900 for 1 year.


dint went for 2 years option as there are chances that my papa would sell it.

hmmmm.
extended warranty perhaps in this case equates to paying 7900 for 5800 part with peace of mind.

now now now... ac problem solved but now dashboard loose and giving noises like


i am fed up of going again and again to workshop but cant tolerate the tak tak noises also..

this is an issue always.

once any part is opened up it does not fit back as it was earlier. wonder what could be the real reason behind this. service center ppl are equiped with all instruments and equipments but still it happens.
the noise may be small, but i know how much it irritates. in fact it irritates to an extent that one may not even feel to drive it anymore.

i have also faced similar issues, you get a job done, then another comes up and then another one, few days left to extend my warranty i and really wondering whether to go for the same or not as it would cost 14.6 k

Can someone tell me 2 things i wanna know.

1. How to remove the air filter of 1.5 Dlx
2. Is the A/C blower fan covered under warranty?
My blower is suddenly making a horrendous noise in speed 4 & 5.
