| Since this is a different topic from the one about Smells when AC is off, it justifies being a new topic.
In that thread I had mentioned that outside fumes and pollution was entering the passenger cabin even with the HVAC ventilation lever towards the Right in CLOSED position. When the car is directly behind a old Diesel taxi/truck a substantial amount of smoke/diesel fumes etc. was entering, so much so, that it used to give me a headache.
In the first service, I had demonstrated this problem to the service boss. He agreed it was a problem. Last month there was an Free AC Service Camp, here too the problem was noted, they agreed that the problem was real, but it was not fixed.
Yesterday I have sent in the car, after taking a "loaner car" in exchange for the duration my car is with them.
They have just called up to say that they have looked at the problem and are NOT ABLE TO FIX IT. Someone from Mahindra Renault is coming in tomorrow to experience the problem for himself.
What I want feedback from you guys is, whether this is a MANUFACTURING DEFECT, and not just a simple misadjustment of some vent.
So please tailgate any old Amby or Fiat taxi belching fumes/or better still a 3wheeler, or get next to the exhaust pipe of a smoke belching bus/truck and see if any distinct smell of fumes/smoke is getting into the cabin with AC on and the windows rolled up and AC vent CLOSED.
Another would be to park next any stinky naala and see if the stench enters.
Feedback Please

| Further to the above:
Mahindra Renault person has seen the problem. Has asked the HVAC vendor to look at it.
I sincerely hope it is an isolated case and is fixable.

| Even I do face the same problem, never took it up with the guys because I think it could be a manufactuing defect. | |

| Same problem here as well. Becomes a funny situation when you cross a drain/nallah and the windows are closed, and you and your co-driver look at each other, giving those questioning looks, as in who dunnit!? Let's hope it can be rectified. I've starting getting irritated with so many manufacturing defects. Sometimes it gets on my nerves! So many manufacturing defects. Mahindra didn't do any homework. Poor planning. Poor R&D, even if there were defects in the original Dacia design, Mahindra could have rectified them. Unsatisfied customers. Bad feedback. Will eventually affect sales. | |

| Part of the decision to buy this car was because of the JD Powers rating of only 65 for new car defects per 100 customers.
I am surprised how this got through and if the company was aware of this issue, how they could allow vehicles to be sent out of their factory without this one being fixed.
The reality is that, when this European car is being now sold in INDIA, we have to put up with far more pollution, bad garbage smells, dirty nallahs, far far more dust, etc.
The absense of a proper airfilter inside the HVAC, when being sold for driving in dusty conditions we have in India, is also something to grumble about.
With regards to my car, it is still in the Mahindra Service Workshop, (since last Thursday, 22ndMay), no final resolution as yet (Monday 26th May... 5 days later).

| OK problem is fixed. Have got the car back after 6 days.
The Logan HVAC vendor (Behr) sent a rep to look at the AC twice. There was a small crack somewhere inside which was causing the vent to not close fully.
The service workshop mentioned that the damage may have happened when the 3rd party Remote Lock Car Alarm was being fitted and the AC panel was removed, that technician was rough handling the AC lever and cracked something. But I cannot be certain if the problem was there prior to the fitting of the remote lock and alarm system.
So something to be careful about if any of you guys are getting the car alarm and central lock fitted.
Anyway , no charge, under warranty.

| This is real Bull SHIT!! Why would sum1 play with your AC vents for remote installation, and rightly said, people without it are also facing the problem, i doubt your problem is solved as this isnt a case of the crack, its a manufacturing defect! Check and tell us if its really solved the menace | |

| NO! the guys said they did it, but could'nt find any difference, so i realised that it must be one of those numerous design deficiencies. no use breaking your head over it | |

Please insist on getting it fixed ... it took two visits to the workshop to convince them that there was a problem. Why did you accept the car back without it being actually fixed?
When took it back to the workshop for the third time for the actual work to be done, technical specialists from Mahindra Renault company and from BEHR the AC machine OEM vendor for Logan came and saw it TWICE, and they then fixed it after keeping the car there for over 6 days!
NO external fumes/smells enter the vehicle now at all ... how can you drive the car without this with all the dirty pollution and smoke there is in our cities?
Please cite my case as it wold be recorded as a case study. (WB02Z 4876 at Mohan Motors Workshop, Kolkata)
I had hoped that the amount of trouble I went through would have served as an example in the workshop, and that all you guys can get it fixed easily.

| Same issue is present in my car too. But I have not reported it because, even though it is in recirculation mode I want little outside air to come in This may sound stupid, But I felt very little outside air should come in... But I have other problems with AC which Iam trying to get resolved.. | |
