I've strictly followed the seatbelt rule. Even if driving for a single kilometer
I insist even my co passenger in front seat to wear it always. if they dont oblige, i stop the car and ask them to move in the rear seat.

"Buckle Up!!" thats what I say before i put the car in 1st gear.

Am having a little problem enforcing the same for rear passengers as ppl feel I am too pushy because I work for an automobile firm.

The simple facts are it saves lives.

Have seatbelts, Will wear!!

lock the car( central locking).............

turn indicators at every crossing etc etc.....

How did he get past you and you co-driver without ripping off your heads or shoulders ??I am sorry but i cannot believe that you can apply the brakes on a car and wizz someone through the windscreen!! (In fact I know you cant)! the only way for this to happen is with a DEAD STOP Ie a tree or another car head on (or have I misunderstood you ? It takes at least 120 mtrs to stop a GOOD car at 70 MPH which during this braking period all that is in the car will stay in the car and when it comes to a stop those without seat belts could bang there heads on the dash board or back seats
But if they HIT a tree they would fly through the window severly injuring the front passengers on there way

may the poor guy's soul rest in peace... however, it is sad that we risk people's life in a test track where we are actually supposed to be doing a speed test..

On a test track most cars are fitted with roll over bars and it is mandertary to wear seatbelts and it is the drivers job to see that all seatbelts are fitted

sheru.. let's drop this topic.. as far as the law and I are concerned this loss of life is a clear case of 'neglect' .. and no amount of justification is going to help ... every thing that you say here in defense sounds to me lik ethose typical disclaimers.. or flat lies...

If the seatbelt wasnt worn in the first place, then, there must be a legal action against the company and the the driver of the vehicle for not enforcing it.

1 What kind of SOP's do you follow before leaving with a vehicle on the test track?
2 Do you guys get to wear helmets?
3 Does the company provide you with protective clothing?
4 What were the speeds you were testing?
5 What is the length of your test track?
6 Are there separate braking zones on your track?
7 Do you have a water hammer on your track?
8 In case your vehicle veered off the track, how come there is a wall in such close proximity to the track?
9 What is the company's liability?
10 Was your friend a test driver or a casual visitor on the test track?

I dont mean to get personal. But, its just not falling in place.
Even i get onto the test track frequently in my company. There are a thousand procedures before you can actually start driving on the track. In case the company did not follow these, both the company and those involved with the incident must be sued.

And finally, how come it is not in the news?

MY car is my castle and if someone does not want to follow my rules then they will not ride in it .and Company rules are the same but more stringent
and if someone breaks company rules they are to blame for any consiquences which in your case would have been the driver .
What do you do for work nowdays ? while I presume the firm you say you were working for would not let you drive for them again after having a self to blame death in his car Oh and did you click on my link which showed the Audi burnt out with Rollbars on a test track

Stu, surya - something is fishy in the story.. possibly .. its just that a story.. if not a story and a relity, then I wouldn't want to be caught talking to remorseless and reckless people such as this guy here (is killer a word too harsh?)... taking off from the topic for good and would actually request moderators to freeze the topic if they feel they should.. this is going nowhere
