| I hear some fan sound for some time and then it stops, after I stop the car and the ignition is turned off. Not opened the bonet and checked out what sound is that. Is this the expected behavior, something need to be fixed. Thanks in advance. | |

| Dear Prakash.. welcome to the forum..
as far as your query is concerned.. prima facie it seems to be normal.. the radiator fan is just doing its job.. don't worry.. in fact it is good to let the fan run and then remove the keys...
however.. do make a note of the engine temperature indicator.. if it is anywhere less than the half way mark, you are safe and within the normal running conditions..
have a great time with your car.. love it and it loves you back

| Four bars indicate that the temperature is in the normal range, atleast for diesel cars, not sure about petrol ones. If the issue is nagging you consider going to the service center. Make sure your coolant level is good and if your vehicle is new then run-in carefully. | |

Is this the expected behavior, something need to be fixed. Thanks in advance. Try leaving the engine at idle for a minute before you turn off. I think that the fan is just doing its duty. And also idling is recommended by the company too.

| I have also noticed this.
My only concern is if that FAN does not go off in some reasonable time lets say 10 mins it may drain the battery causing the car not to start at all.
Point of my debate is if the engine is switched off why the hell that FAN needs to help in cooling? As it is the engine is bound to cool itself in some another 10 to 15 mins as it is now switched off. Even if it is started before it actually gets cooled the FAN can start then.
Why to eat battery? | |

| Your motor is hot and it gets even hotter when you turn it off because there s no wind it just accumulates so the fan stays on a bit to help cool the engine parts Stu | |

| hey thats very correct martin!! hey guys leave the fan alone!! let him do his job!! and when u have driven to such an extent where ur fan operates even when the keys are removed then u have driven enough to charge the dam battery!! so dont worry at all!! | |

| Hi, As far as I have understood, there must be a thermostat sort of thing attached with the fan which actually regulates the fan based on the engine temperature. However, this feature si very unique and I have not observed the same in other cars in India. With Regards, Kaustuv Goswami. | |

| engine cooling system in all vehicles have thermostat. without thermostat the fan cooling system will never work. again this is what i believe. example; in any car the fan is not running all the times. it comes into action only when the engine temperature is going above predecided level. now for the fan system to understand this situation it is mandatory for it to have a thermostat which keeps tab on engine temperature levels all the times and once it finds that the level is going up it triggers the fan. normally there is a kind of valve inlet that lets the coolant enter the cooling system. thermostat keeps taking readings from this valve sort of thing. as soon as the heat increases it kicks off the fan. in Renault the only new thing I have seen is "just after leaving the car in idle situation where no engine is running and car is in parked state cooling fan triggers itself to force cool the engine, since normally without such fan for a while when car is parked the engine aint gonna cool itself and rather get more heated." | |
