| I was driving to work today, turned on the blower and noticed that there is almost no airflow from the vents. Turned it to higher speed and instantly hear 'kat-kat-kat-kat-kat' noise from the blower. I took it to the service center straight away and he confirmed that there is a rat that is stuck inside going by the sound of the blower. Also happened to notice rat footprints on the engine cover. The service advisor explained that the entire dashboard will have to be taken apart, a/c gas transferred and vents cleaned. They''ll also place a mesh to avoid such incidents in future. The whole excercise is likely to cost approximately Rs4500/-. I'll have to leave the car for 2 days. After I left the service center, happened to use the 'toggle' button by which one can select 'outside air' or 'inside air' for circulation and noticed that the toggle switch goes only a bit and does not travel all the way across. I heard the rat sqealing when I did that. Has anybody encountered such a problem? I plan to take the car tomorrow to the service center. |

| OMG.. Tats funny.. Neways.. Sorry for your case.. Actually, rats do tend to enter cars if parked at the same place for a longer period of time. Also, it is advisable to clean the under bonnet area if the car isnt parked in a garage. There are these Wax treatments available but they dont really work a lot. A friend got it done in his swift but we still found rat chewed wires and windshield water pipe. No available solutions for the same as we had discussed in another topic earlier. There are openings left open intentionally for water to escape and fresh air intake.. Only take care you park your car in a cleaner area and periodically get engine area cleaned. Earlier discussed here:- http://mahindralogan.forumotion.com/modifications-f5/different-orvms-t246-15.htm_________________ LOGANIZE!! ;-) |

| They now plan to put a mesh around the opening. I don't understand why they can't install a mesh at the factory level itself. Really disappointing. |

| Collected my car today. They found a total of 5 rats (one dead) in the air circulation unit. They have now installed a metal mesh at the air intake outlet. I also heard from my neighbour that he too had encountered the rat menace. He owns a Maruti Suzuki Alto. After 3 months of using the vehicle he came across this problem. RNS Motors replaced the wiring and they didn't charge anything for the labour. It was all done free of cost.
I spoke about the mesh to the Manager at the service center and he said that if it was installed at the fatory level, it would compromise the aerodynamic capability of the vehicle. Frankly speaking I haven't come across anything a more irrelavant or stupid reasoning.
He waived off close to 50% of the total cost. I paid Rs2200/ (tax inclusive) instead of Rs4200/- or more.
I am definitely very disappointed with the entire episode. I was wondering as to what would have happened if a snake had entered instead of the rats. |

| Can we put in the mesh ourselves as a precaution?
There definitely are rats in the area where we stay. |

| Recently one of my car's fog lamps stopped working. Taking it to the service station confirmed rat chewing up portions of electrical wiring. It cost me 250 bucks. There is nothing much we can help from the rat menace. The rats love the Logan sooo much.... |

| This is getting out of hand. One day after I took the car from the service center, it has started to stink again. Yesterday night I noticed the stink and today morning too it was no different. I think before they they installed the mesh another rat must have got in or they didn't check it throughly. The car was at the service center overnight. I had the M800 earlier and didn't come across this issue. |

| This is getting better by the day. I took it to the service center yesterday and they found a dead rat under the front passenger seat, stuck between the railing. In the process of locating the rat he again opened up the dashboard, a/c assembly and this time removed the seats, carpet and anything and everything else. It was 'naked' from within (interior). But the story doesn't end here. I skipped my lunch to make sure everything is in order. In the evening after I started driving back home, noticed that air blowing (outside mode) from the vents is warm. Made sure the heater is not on. I have to take the vehicle again to the service center. Rdr, I think we can install the mesh ourselves. For that, you'll have to take off the plastic grill at the bottom of the glass. I suggest using 'silicon sealant' (from Dow Corning or GE or Anabond) to keep the mesh in place. Also there is another opening on the right hand side (when facing the vehicle). Water drains out through that hole. Make sure you design the mesh to resemble a 'bulb' and after inserting it in the opening bend it outwards all around the opening from beneath and use the sealant to hold it in place. One can also use tobacco. Pack tobacco in a mesh (as in the case of toilet de-ordarant) and keep it firmly in an appropriate place in the engine bay. |

| I am fresh with the problem of rats getting into the AC duct. Over the year end, i had left car unused for over a week and by the time i got back to using it, the rats have had their say.
First day, as i started the car, i heard a thud sound it didnt bother me much, but suddenly after i noticed that the Steering wheel became so difficult to operate, its power functionality had gone. Also, the lights on the monitor coming up like Oil etc. I didnt have any other alt but to call Mahindra service to attend this at home. They came home, checked the car to find the belt having been dislodged and the dead rat inside nearby the belt. Got me charged me 1500 Rs.
For last couple of days, the AC vent has been giving a lot of noise and the workshop guys just told me that to clean it up all, its 2 days and 4k !! So the rat family has costed me 6000 Rs and some agony... damn the whole thing
Apparently, The AC ducting is very new and thus making it costlier as against the earlier versions of Logan |

One ate a complete set of Plug leads on my car ! It was 1 week old they also eat the wiper blades TRY THAT WITH THE URINAL STONES ! |
