| hi all!! the smell comes up cause of the rubber tubing which insulates the pipes to the AC. its just normal. use any car spray or a deo and just spray it into the vent..... that should work. i had this problem too. also, the smell comes up due to extensive blower use (blower without AC on). too much co2 buildup and also because your windows are closed all the time!! and due to the insulation rubber rapidly heating an cooling due to outside temperature.
i hope this helps.. one single spray when my car is parked during the night, kills the odor for the whole day next!!
one more thing.. use an anti fungal spray.. usually from (GULF) to kill any fungus which can cause serious odors!! | |

| amritnoronha, try heating a similar rubber insulation for pipes with your hair dryer, I suspect the smell would be different.Mould combined with dirt from air plus de-iced water from your evaporator when u have blower on and ac off would make that putrid smell | |

| Can any one share the name and brand of a good Spray which can also be used so as to keep the bugs (flies, fungus etc...) away and at the same time is not that strong on smell which can cause a headache / nausea feeling... kindly suggest something which is easily available. I dont plan to go Dubai Duty Free at this time...
Recently I am facing an issue.... Initial 15 seconds of A.C. gives smelly odour. I am wondering on whether this is something which appears due to car running on dirty roads OR is some gas from A.C. mechanism leaking. dont know how dangerous it can be.. After 15 secs. it goes off... Dont have time to see the mechanic as well.
I dont know but i cant stand it....
Help... S.O.S. | |

| As even with any home window AC, dust, etc on the evaporator/filter screens will start to smell, and needs o be cleaned off ... but in Logan its is rather unaccessible. Probably just run the blower with windows open, for a minute before you start journey will reduce the odour over time. | |

| nothing helps.. the first 15 secs are unpleasant... only way out is to run A.C. on highest fan with air setting to fresh outside for the first 10 secs. which ofcourse does not solve the problem but will surely provide some relief. | |

| Yup try Stu's suggestion, after a long run, with a hot engine, run the HVAC at full Heat for 5 minutes. You will dry out the AC ducts, and kill some of the odour causing bacteria/fungus/organic growth in the bargain. | |

| Dont you have free AC checkup camp going on in your area, its from 9th to 17th May - labour 15% off and parts 5% off. he he he - they think we are fool, I seen him doing this - they will only check the temprature in vents --- thats it your free AC checkup is done. Also complementary car wash what they did is just sprayed water from outside, no underbody on nothing else, I was watching all and will give feedback to Mahindra about this. Servicing AC is damn costly the abour charge is only 2200, I would suggest you to take your car to some good local machanic of Diesel cars (if it is diesel). | |
