PostSubject: Tyre Pressure   Wed Jun 11, 2008 12:43 am

Folks,

Id like to know whats the right tyre pressure for the Logan. I use normal air Surprised for the tyres. I recently checked the pressure for the first time and as per instructions on the sticker on the door, I reduced the pressure to 29PSI on all tyres, though they had higher pressure (31/32psi) probably filled during my first service.

I stand to be corrected - but havent seen this discussion topic: hence opened a new one.

Hey Dude,

It is best to check tire pressure when the tyres are not hot (preferably before the days run). Bcoz as tyres run they get hot and air expands. So, if you are checking pressure at the end of the day, you are likey to see pressure at 30-32 psi.

Recommended pressure is 29 psi and you should preferable check in the morning after a run of about 3-4 kms (like on your way to office or something)

Tomlai, but I thought over filling would hamper the fuel efficiency? Or is that only for underfilling?

underfilling make for more contact between tyre and road ... better ride but worse for FE

PostSubject: Re: Tyre Pressure   Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:01 pm

Hi All,

Bought Logan DLE 2 wks back and drove for 200km. The spec says it has 185 / 70 R14 tyres . My questions are
1. Are these tubeless tyres ? [Though showroom claimed but I could not judge from the outlook]
2. When I went to check the Air, it was shown as 38 and I asked them to bring that down to 30 [after reading this post]. Is this the correct pressure for all the tyres? I am asking since today morning I observed that one of the rear tyre looks flat [Not sure though, asked for support through helpline]

thanks in advance.

Hey Rajib,
Welcome to the forum.

1. The correct pressure is 29 psi for all 4 wheels.
Do not check air pressure after the vehicle has been run. This is because, heating of tyre causes air to expand and it will show higher pressure. If you get air pressure corrected at the end of the day, in the morning it will seem to be FLAT.

Try to check pressure in the morning after running for 1-2 kms only.

2. All logan variants come with tubeless tyres.

Same for me when I spoke to Service Engineers. Though they have asked me to maintain 35 for spare tyre.

However, though I am maintain 29 and 28, today while driving in a bad road today, I heard a big sound as my chassis hit the road bump. Hopefully no damage but I am not sure if I would go for 28 confused

On bad road or at speed breaker try slowing down and also you can use trick of crossing speed breaker in cross section (if your logan is having full load) . i.e front right tyre on speed breaker then front left and rear right . This trick gives more clearance on big speed breakers.

I used to do this on my santro as its clearance was also very low.

well my car is around 10 months old, i have maintained a pressure of 30 psi in all tyres, till now, i get air filled and checked only when i fuel up every month and there is not much pressure loss, usually dips to 27 - 28,

The pump guy said that they are filling 32 in all logans, which i found surprising, so i correct him every time to fill 30 in all tyres

if u have not changed season ie. going from summer to fall,u should not loose pressure so fast.first check all over ur tyres with suds from a solution of dish washing liquid then around the base of ur tubeless valves and finally on top of valves ,if u couldn't find the place u could use a can of tubeless tyre repair follow the instructions to the letter because some of the cans contain explosive gases.it is also good practice to check the valve cap is screwed on tight, because if u lose valve cap and dirt gets inside the valve,u will get a leaky valve.

Just wanted to know that does this spec of tyre pressure differ from country to country according to respective  weather condition or just universal for all countries.

I am maintaining 28 in all ...my experience over the driving of Logan is that; at 29 psi ride is noisy n bumpy ...28 its more stable less noisy n slightly shock absorbing..

So far, I have observed that anything ranging from 28 to 32 is a common figure that most of the Loganizer adhere to. So, if you take average of 28 & 32, then 30 is the ideal figure, I suppose.

I generally have 33 all around, suits for my driving style.

30 becomes little more soft. 30 PSI should be best for lots of people out here
