One of my friend who owns other car said that I dont need to, as its a new vehicle and they should have taken care of it atleast when its new.

Your friend is right, you dont need antirust for Logan, I had checked it with the dealer as well as the service guys.
As far as Teflon coating goes it is a waste of money, because it will go witha few washes, peridically wax/polish your car, cheaper and a better alternative.

I fully agree with Debashish,

Teflon coating is a material that is made to forcibly enter into the texture of the surface paint. It is done so by applying the material and prolonged rubbing on the surface. It usually starts deteriorating in its thickness and eventually wears out.

There is another development currently going on at 3M.

They have developed a special car care package, which will be launched very soon as a service thru tie-ups with dealers.

So, whats new with the package?

Well, when i went to 3M's Facility in Bangalore, I saw a Blue Mitsubishi Lancer that had just come out from the showroom.

On going closer, I was really amazed at the paint job done by the guys at Mitsubishi (for a second, I felt that my 6 month old Logan actually lost out the shine)

However, upon seeing closer, i was shocked to see the odometer at 85000 Kms!!!!

The car was a 1999 Model !!
It had just undergone 3M's new treatment package (approx 8-10K. 2 Days required for treatment)
It also tales care of the minor scratches that irritate u so much when u look at them.

I must say, it was awesome to see.

Guarantee on the restoration package was 1 year (includes gloss touch finishing 3 times during that period)

I wouldnt mind spending 8000 bucks to pep up the shine on my car once in 6 years or so.

Atleast now I have a little less worry for the minor scratches my car gathers.

There is a chemical that goes into making Teflon that is very harmful and takes over 10 years to remove itself from your body!

I wouldn't worry about the coating because a 5 years anti-perforation/corrosion warranty is provided. Waste of money I would say if you decide to get it teflon coated.

Hi Guys

How often should we do wax polishing on the car? and how much does it cost.
Is it possible to wax polish at home or do we need to take it to the service center / local garage?

The wax shampoo is from Formula-1 and costs around 200. But id does give a good shine and save the effort of applying polish all over the car.

I wash the car in the open garage. I also keep one Formula-1 scratch out and Formula-1 wax polish. I use them in case I get some minor scratches.

Dealers can promote things according to their fancy.

But as a company / manufacturer recommendation I would say

Teflon Coating = Waste of money
Anti Rust Coating = (Already done on Logan) Additional is waste of Money

I dont intent to hurt anyone who has gotten the either of the above 2 done for their car.

In the end its upto you and your satisfaction.

I agree. I came across another Logan owner who had got it done at the service centre. When I enquired about it from the service centre guys, one of them whom I happened to get to know better told me on the quiet to avoid the anti-rust as it was not required; and the teflon "waste of money".

Anti-Rust Oiltec WAX was sprayed inside engine compartment. Costed Rs.350/-

It has made everything look as if it was wet. Also it is not an even coating, but has a irregular surface. How neat and clean the engine used to look like before has gone forever. Also in spraying under the hood, some of the spray got onto the grill and front windshield glass, which took several washing sessions and scraping off to remove.
