PostSubject: AC compressor issue   Tue Apr 21, 2015 2:13 pm

Hi everyone,

Before I explain the problem let me give a brief background of my problem. I have a Logan 1.4 GLX (2008) and for the last 2 years (feb 2013 to Jan 2015) the car was not driven or used. In Feb 2015 I replaced the battery, refuelled and inflated the tyres and I spent some Rs. 1500 for cleaning and the car was running. Only issue was that the AC was not working. So I wanted to get a thorough servicing done in an authorised service centre (ambition auto, Bhandup (W)) and gave the car for servicing on 18th April.

The service centre already has a bill for 31K and today I got a call from them saying that the AC compressor is not working and needs to be replaced which will cost an additional 33k. The service engineer initially said that there might be a leakage in condenser coil. But now he says that everything else is fine and he rules out any possibility of repair of the compressor. The car is till at the workshop.

I need advice regarding where else in Mumbai can I take my car for solving this AC problem as I think that compressor replacement may not be the only solution.

I cannot help you with this one but I sure hope you get some advise on the issue I cannot see a AC breaking to the point of needing renewing unless it was used in a dry condition (No Fluid) Just keep looking in and someone will get back to you

It might be a faulty ECU that controls the AC as well. I went through that hell 2 yrs back when my AC was working only intermittently.

PostSubject: Re: AC compressor issue   Sat Apr 25, 2015 6:10 pm

Thank you for your response. Actually the compressor works intermittently and the service engineer says that the gas leaks from the compressor which trips it. I don't know whether the service engineer could explain properly. I also find it very hard to believe that the compressor will need replacement after the car remained idle for 2 years. Previous to that the AC was working fine. I may well look into the ECU issue. But any information about a reliable car AC service centre near chamber, Mumbai. It will help me a lot. Driving late in the morning without AC is nothing short of hell in Mumbai now.
