| Subject: ENGINE BECOMING FAST IN LOGAN Thu Mar 06, 2014 11:24 am | |
| I faced the classic problem of the engine becomimng fast in the Mahindra Logan.
The problem was the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve which was sticking, and as usual, very difficult to procure.
It is a servo controlled valve, and any little sticking of the threaded shaft prevents the operation of the valve.
Take off the air filter, unplug and take off the IAC valve.Carefully unthread the shaft, clean the threads with a mild solvent, (eg WD-40, CTC) and then apply a light lubricant to it .
Re-install the valve and the car will be back to normal.
Another reason for the idle speed increasing is the air pipe below the throttle comes off as the rubber softens with age. Place it back and put just a drop of quick setting glue at the end so that it is more difficult for it to come off. | |
