Hey Guys, do u think the extended warranty is worth it. Today when I went for servicing, they were trying sooo hard to push me to go for it. They ware saying that if I don't take the extended warranty, I might have to spend about 1 lac in the maintenance after the new car warranty expires. But since I use to travel only 40 kms /day and drive by my own I don't thinks its much feasible to opt for the extended warranty and that too for only 2 yrs. Also what I have seen during my warranty period is that the service guys try hard not to replace the parts and keep the cost for the company as little as possible under warranty service. Please comment on it guys.

The benefits of extended warranty is only if you want to keep the car for next 2 years. It is just like the car insurance every year you pay, if you are safe then you will never need to claim but it will help a lot when problem occures.

Part price will make you mad, a simple failed power steering can cost you around upto 60000 and when it comes to clutch, breaking, engine parts then I am sure you will love to go for ext warranty.

PS: Extended warranty is not a copy of you normal warranty, there is difference, which you can read in attached file -

Guys, i need advice!
I am going for the extended warranty! The problem is that i have a 1 year extended warranty free, (Friends Forever Plan). Should i stay that and pay and go for a new 2 year warranty??? I am going to keep the car for those many years for sure! Now the question is whether i should keep the 1 yr free warranty or go for a new 2 yr one???

My Views on extended warrenty are these They are also tied in with extended servicing which is tied to Mahindra So you will have to go there for another 2 years and pay there prices .and also this !!!! If they offer an extended cover this means they are sure you should not need it ! Because if they thought most people would end up claiming they would not offer it would they? and most covers are only for Oiled moving parts like motor gearbox and stuff like this but not clutch this is friction brakes lights and electrics
They are sure you will be OK for at least 4 years with a new car and so am I .

failed power steering.... scratch
is it expected to fail so soon....
such things can happen if the car is say 20 years old.
or members are being on safer side as a precautionary step. i am not too sure so askin.
also do they cover a 60 k damage under such extended warranty.

may be just relax no need for any extended warranties...
ensure you drive human.

I agree with Mir and Stu. A new car does not need too much of detailed repairs so soon (3-4 yrs) unless of course you have been sold a lemon! .....what with all the talk of famed reliability of Renault!! Besides, the very fact that MR is offering it is because they know you would by and large not need it.

Do not agree with Stu on the life insurance part though. It is not for you but for those you will leave behind, should you feel that they deserve a decent life even after you; dictated by individual economic and financial needs (In any case this thread is about "extended warranty" of MR Logan).

You cant compare it with life insurance but yes you can compare with it car insurance or health insurance - you never know when yo need that, as I mentioned. But yes if you need that then all your premium cost is covered at one go because any major fault will not cost anything less than 20,000.

The power steering fact I mentioned is a true incident happened with one my friend with his new Indica (the same who drives Logan, now purchased Dzire), where they failed to renew the ext warr and very next month the steering failed and they had to spend around 65000 for that. (I will try to get more details).

I am totally supporting the words of Mr Martin.Extented warranty means they want to earn more money through service after our orginal warranty. It is not only for this company all the companies are doing the same because after completing the warranty very few people will go to the service due to our time limit and all.so the company is forcing us to come to the service centre through extended warranty. If any one have good ideas pls share it in this forum

Well , i went to the service center, only 10 days left for me to extend the warranty by 2 years as the original warranty is expiring by 24 September 09. that is when my car turns 2 years old,

i am not able to decide to go for the extended warranty or not , the service center manager says, that till now no vehicle has come for service in the extended warranty as most vehicles are 2,1/2 year old after launch and till not they have not serviced not faced any issues.

He also said that he has serviced few logans that have crossed 80,000kms and the clutch is still good.

Also he said that the clutch cable becomes hard and in extended warranty they replace it for free, normally the same would cost Rs 8o0+400 = Rs 1200 (part+labor) .

So guys what do u recommend, should i go for it or drop it and save my Rs 14,600.

My driving is less in 2 years i have only driven around 18,500 km

Am stuck with a similar situation now.

While I know that the Logan sure ahs a good build quality & part reliability and I'll probably never have to claim anything under the warranty, even my car will turn 2 yrs old in November.

There's no point in asking the dealer as I already know what his advice is going to be.

Early responses from colleagues has been that I must skip it.

I thought I wouldnt have to but I'm actually scratch

Precaution is better than cure...............so its not a bad idea to purchase it, specially for ppl with Diesel version. Cause when you sell it, it can help in fetching a better deal....

My 2 cents....
