PostSubject: My LOGAN 5447 Review - 9841 Kms, DLX   Sat May 24, 2008 12:57 am

Bought the car in October, does an average of 30 kms on weekdays, a few long drives on the highways. Overall quite satisfied with the car, the rear space is too good, cant say the same thing about the driving ergonomics, overall strictly excellnet value for money.

Mileage - around 17-18, however for the past 15 days it has dropped to 12-13 (dunno why, need to send it to Service)

Suspension - excellent, takes the bumps, and the ruts with ease, though pronounced roll at speeds above 80 noticed especially along winding roads.

Engine - responsive, with adequate power to pull in the city as well as the highways, 100-115 is effortless on the highways with the ac on; however overtaking is pretty risky with sudden loss of power after braking takes a pretty long time to accelerate (dont know if it is a problem with my car or others also, Guys respond).

Braking - sure and strong, does not feel rushed, however a noise comes if you press the brakes when the car is going at 20-30.

Noise levels - good insulation from the engine, however road/ambient noise comes a liitle more than normal, when the windows are closed.
OEM tyres (JK) are horrible, needless cost cutting for 2-3000 Rs, stupid Mahindra guys.

There is a significant design lapse,
The beam which comes on the drivers right (A\B\C I dont know what is it called) cause a blind zone which can be quite fatal if You are not careful or aware.
Height of the car is just right, ingress/egress is a breeze. As of now no rattles or funny noises, the power window switches are very inconvenient.
But overall no regrets, I am proud and happy that I bought a LOGAN.

Great review Debashish! The first in the forum, hoping others will follow suit.

The body roll is perhaps again because of the OE tyres. I faced the same problem, but after changing my tyres, its gone.

The thick A/B pillars are part of the safety norms and is common in all new cars. It does create a blind spot but we'll all have to bear it! Smile

Yes that beam is a strengthner look at the crash test I posted today It should not be fatal though just rem its there and look round it and also as for overtaking and braking just go down a gear !!! That is what they are for .If you have ever driven a automatic you will know of the KickDown this is just changing down a gear to give more Power

Right Stu, I know about that but the problem is suppose you are overtaking a vehicle at 100 in the 4th and suddenly due to some reason you have to tap the brakes slightly, th epower drop is enormous even if you go down to 2nd or 1st the resulting accelaration is so sluggish, God help if there is an oncoming vehicle from the opposite side. Faced it twice . . . scary . . .

If you TAP the brake slightly you will only slow down slightly if you hit the brakes you will slow down a lot
If you dont drive to the road conditions NO car will help you
Believe me I have driven everthing from mini to Mercs BMW and ROVERS
READ THE ROAD IN FRONT OF YOU
Like I say if I can mix it on the Autobahn then you can also manage
your Dacia on those indian roads
I think you are on about overtaking !!!!!
Dont drive faster then your guardian angel can fly !!!

Hi Stuart, I had thought that the 1.4 would mean that you have a Petrol engine. Seeing your posts here means u have a diesel?

In india, the diesel is 1.5, with petrol variants being 1.4 and 1.6
