Why you are going through these maintenance again n again, is is just scheduled jobs or any run repair kinda things?

As per my knowledge Renault DCi engines do not require any overhaul before atleast 1,50,000 - 200,000 KM's, then why your car is going under every major work?

PostSubject: Re: Logan 60000kms report   Wed Jun 10, 2009 1:16 am

@martin, well Logan is a VFM car by name. This is the least we can expect from it. I just checked the bills of Innova which has clocked 1,80,000 km, and the bill has never crossed rs.10000 and it lays around rs.5000 for most of the services. I've neer heard of such bills from any car in this segment. It may sound different to you, but we were spoiled by our Indian car makers.

@mir, will update the complete bill details by tomorrow.

@ezee, yeah it is mentioned on the manual to replace them, as said by saumil.

@saumil, I'm sorry to say this, but Logan is slowly nearing its end of life in India. It is indeed a great car, but service spoils it. My grievance is after spending all the money, the service is not good. They couldn't even fix rattling noises, it comes from under the hood, on the doors and dash board, it rattles just like a public bus on bad roads. Overall no perfection. Their stinginess can be seen with the their attitude of charging for even water wash.

All Logan owners, watch out, you will get very high bills once you clock more than 50,000kms. So is the reliability of Renault Logan
I know that many won't agree with me, as this is a Logan based forum with Logan fans. But this is the true fact. It is out of my experience.

I can only say Crap this is coming from a biased person (CHILD) no ideas of a vehicle of the Logan type .and also from a person who is afraid to go to his local garage and complain about the service

@martin, very funny. That's why i already said. Know before you post sir, you can't compare your country's cost with ours. Logan is not our first vehicle and also is not our only vehicle now. We have two other Common rail turbo cars. And my close relatives have too, all cars including ours are high mileagers. We usually drive them atleast 80000km, some even has crossed 1,50,000kms and still going on. Earlier when i posted my bill in another forum, saumil came there and said no one has ever got that high bill in our forum(clublogan). And as per his request, i came here to post it. Now saumil has confirmed the prices to be true. It is clear from this that even saumil never expected this much high prices, so as the members in other automotive forums(and many there are quite matured, read old enough to talk about this). I can give the links of it, if it is not against forum rules.
Where did i give any negative review sir. Infact i loved Logan as a product, i've mentioned many times in my review. It is the service that ruins. What is the use of buying a low priced car with good FE, which gives out rocket high service costs and that increases with every service.

It is not the number of posts that matters, not here, not in any forums. I'm not a member in this forum alone. I've provided enough content here. I gave an idea to all Logan owners, how much they have to shell out at 60k km service.

And yeah Martin sir, i never asked you to listen to me. This is a public forum and all can express their views. And also i believe there will be a rule like, no personal attacks on members. Here you called me, an adult to be a kid and my post to be a crap. Not all can post in a attractive manner, but i've provided enough proof to prove my side and they'll do the talking.

Are these words from a professional presented in a professional manner? I'm a member in some other forums too. Go check there, whether i've a car or not and if yes, how many are there.

Hi CC,
I must say a very well written review. Smile
I agree on the spare parts cost thing, I've heard this from many other owners too.
After collabration with M&M, Both car makers should try hard to improve their ASS.

Cat your brilliant.

VERY VERY COSTLY SPARES ( don’t go by their information on website. Check the autocar review of march-april issue and you will know that their most parts are atleast twice any other car of same segment)

Wow your just 19 and your able to say the right things, what Auto experts are saying.

Cat, I like your response and your respect.

PostSubject: Re: Logan 60000kms report   Wed Jun 10, 2009 1:22 pm

Guys, chill out !!!
Why such instances are frequenting on this forum?

We have a case where a member feels he has over spent on maintainence.

We have discussed on indian market etc.. on several ocassions. It is quite clear that it is not the same.

One more thing to note is we do not have any member on this forum whom atleast i come across in here, who is from India and has a Logan which is 60k old except @CrazyCat. So we do not know the reality. We can only anticipate.

I wait for the total expenditure so far going in maintainence. However with this figure i am not gonna do any magic. But it gives some fair and relative figures w.r.t 60,000 km figure.

I learnt Timing Belt has to be changed at 60k kms.
Is this true? I can not understand why is this?
Is it only for diesel engines or for both?
Servicing / Realignment of Timing Belt may be OK but replacing it alltogether at 60k seems unjustified.

I have mentioned similar views on this car in Indian market
http://mahindralogan.forumotion.com/mahindra-renault-f2/are-you-satisfied-with-your-logan-t360-105.htm

I can see i am not the only one feeling that way.

As per my information sharing with people / used car dealers from various geographical locations, mostly developing / under developed nations spread across south africa, east africa, mediterranean, far east asia, central asia, eastern europe below seems to be publicly expected priorities on vehicle manufacturers when it comes to parts cost and maintainence. Bear in mid that same rankings do not apply to other factors like ergonomics, comfort, luxury, safety, design etc.. Each stream has very different outcomes.

American (highest) [e.g. chrysler, chevrolet, saab, ford]
German [e.g. audi, bmw, volksvagen, skoda]
Italian [e.g. fiat]
French [e.g. citroen, renault, peugot]
Korean [e.g. hyundai, kia]
Japanese (lowest) [e.g. suzuki, toyota, honda, nissan, mitsubishi]

Cant really say where Indian vehicles fit in there as they are mostly mix of above. Also no reliable feedback received from India so far. Major problem is every dealer / car owner is biased towards the brand they deal in / own. Lack of transparency.

Also let me tell that these are my personal findings.
Wherever i travel i definitely dicusss such things as soon as i get the opportunity.

Japanese cars rank highest in Resale value as well.

going by above chart if it is to be believed, as it is not any official statement, makes obvious that cost of maintaining renault will be higher than that of toyota or a maruti.

what is equally important is to see how frequently maintainence and parts change is needed in each make...

well it is too deep a study and equally complicated.

for now lets focus on the fact that how much did @crazycat spend till date.

@prakash, thanks. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm just posting my experience with Logan here, true to the fact. I'd be satisfied, even if the cost matches the prices available in ACI parts survey. The money i paid is more than that mentioned in ACI's parts survey.

@Mir, i've the service record in my hand now(all records are maintained in our office), but i've only from 20k kms service, all paid services. First three free services' bills are not available currently. All paid services has costed a total of 51289, this excludes cost of tyres, AC works, alignment, waxprotection, rust protection, and interior cleanings. Will update the cost of first three services, as soon as i get them.

@saumil, are you asking for official websites' parts list? ere it is
http://mahindrarenault.com/logan_partsprice_diesel.html

Mentioning one price in the website and collecting much higher price in reality. Isn't this cheating by misrepresentation?

Wax, Rust, Nitrogen Air, Accessories, Interior cleaning etc. anyways should be out.

51289 Question
is very high. exorbitant is the word clicking instantly.
almost INR 1 per km. This was not something anticipated and defies statement that Logan is low on maintainence cost, specially in case of @crazycat.

Do we have any other diesel engine review on what was the cost incurred? if not here on any other portal. if anyone has ever come across kindly do share the links.

Need for a second opinion felt.

@crazycat: i assume you are not using the machine for anything other than personal use.

This looks to be on the higher side. The next time I am at the service centre, I will speak to a couple of cab drivers and find out about the costs they have incurred so far.
Crazy cat, do scan the bill and upload. Also do you change your engine oil every 5000kms?
